Chinese vehicles account for 40 percent of the total revenue from customs duties at Rasuwagadhi border crossing.

Based on the revenue collection analysis from July 2081/82 to June 17, the Customs Office said that about 40 percent of the revenue was received only from vehicle tax.

According to Chief Customs Officer Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai, during this period of the current year, 29 billion 65 crores 93 lakhs have been recovered, while only 20 billion 21 crores were collected in the same period last year.

According to the customs office, especially shoes-sandals, ready-made clothes, and materials for hydropower projects operated in Nepal are imported through Rasuwagadhi border crossing.

During this period of the current year, more than 6 thousand 5 hundred vehicles have been imported and more than 3 billion worth of goods have been exported to China, the customs office has clarified. Despite paying the customs duty, some importers have kept the vehicles in queues in the hands of the customs office as they have not yet been cleared.

The customs office has requested the related businessmen to take the vehicles imported from neighboring friendly country China with huge investment on time. According to the local residents, the settlements around the Rasuwagadhi crossing are in a state of danger due to the possible flooding with the rains.
