Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission Prof. Dr. Shivraj Adhikari has said that the upgradation process in the developing country of Nepal will increase credibility as well as open new opportunities for international cooperation, trade and investment.Speaking at a high-level national workshop on Nepal's upgradation from a least developed country: Nepal's easy upgradation strategy, challenges and future directions, held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Vice President Adhikari said that along with upgradation, strategic preparation is also necessary for long-term and sustainable transformation.
The vice-chairman of the commission said that this workshop is a timely and important opportunity to review Nepal's progress, evaluate the upcoming challenges and focus discussions on Nepal's upgrading plan and decide necessary actions.
The vice-president officer, unlike the previous evaluations He said that Nepal has also met all the three necessary standards in terms of income. 'We have made significant progress, now we need more investment, effort, and a clear national direction, this is the time to demonstrate Nepal's potential,' he said.
Stating that there are still some challenges such as low productivity, weak economic diversification, slow structural transformation and sensitivity to climate crisis, he opined that the future goal should not only be upgrading, but it should be made easy, quality and long-term .
Vice-President Adhikari said that the 'Smooth Transformation Strategy' prepared by the Government of Nepal to guide this transformation is an overall framework It also helps to manage risk, take advantage of opportunities, and deal with dilemmas.
'Nepal is now at a historic moment, being upgraded from the least developed nation category is an important recognition of our progress, it brings a new turn in our development journey, and proves the real progress seen in economic index, human development, and resilience,' he said .
The Vice President Officer said that the National Planning Commission has started the necessary initiatives to support this change and is reviewing and prioritizing development projects, strengthening the National Project Bank, and moving towards the implementation of financial federalism. He claimed that the efforts would help increase investment, harness resources, and build a resilient and productive economy.
