In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) Member of Parliament Janardan Sharma emphasized that the budget allocation for the upcoming financial year 2082/83 should be implemented in a balanced manner.

Sharma, who is also the former finance minister, presented a proposal to reduce the expenditure related to the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Agriculture and Livestock Development and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and emphasized that the budget should be focused on improving the economy and promoting good governance.

MP Sharma said that the budget should ensure effective implementation of the constitution, strengthen federalism and make the local government resourceful. He opined that the budget did not cover the necessary plans for poverty alleviation and the agricultural production promotion programs were not effective.

Without the mobilization of youth and workers, there will be no capital formation, MP Sharma pointed out the need to give priority to the basic needs of the people, health, education and employment.

He drew the attention of the government through the speaker for the proper management of the security and employment of Nepalis in the war-torn countries, saying that the conflict raging in Middle East Asia pointed to the danger of the third world war.

Member of Parliament Sharma requested the Speaker to immediately solve the obstacles in the House and create a smooth operating environment.

Member of Parliament Vimala Subedi presented a proposal to cut expenses related to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and claimed that the budget could not maintain financial discipline. She said that the unbalanced budget did not pay attention to the development of the production-oriented economy.

MP Subedi drew the attention of the Speaker to pass the Civil Service Bill from the House as soon as possible even though it has been passed by the State Order Committee. She asked to speed up the drafting of other laws including the school education bill.

Subedi demanded that adequate budget be allocated for the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Inquiry on Disappeared Persons. She mentioned that it is necessary to properly manage the security and employment of Nepalis in war-torn countries. She emphasized on strengthening the federalism and empowering the state and local levels.
