The government did not increase the salary of the employees in the budget of the next financial year showing the lack of resources. On Thursday, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel while presenting the budget in Parliament said that despite increasing the dearness allowance, due to lack of resources, the salary of national service employees could not be increased.

Finance Minister Paudel said that the dearness allowance that the employees get on a monthly basis has been increased to 5,000. Employees will get increased dearness allowance from 1st July.

In addition to the salary, the existing employees have been getting Rs 2,000 as a monthly dearness allowance and Rs 10,000 as an annual clothing allowance.

The last time the then Finance Minister Janardan Sharma increased the salary of employees by 15 percent in the financial year 2079/80.
