Energy Minister Minister Khadka's insistence on Meteorological Department to be active in mitigating climate risks
The Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has directed to end the laxity and indifference towards the work seen in the ministry and the agencies under it. Speaking at a high-level review meeting held at the Ministry of Energy on Sunday, Minister Khadka directed the employees to focus on active, responsible and timely service delivery.
"There has been a complaint that the file has been stopped in the ministry and the agencies under it, proceed with the process so that any file can be cleared within three days from now," Energy Minister Khadka instructed.
He expressed his dissatisfaction saying that the overall progress of the ministry has not been satisfactory so far. Noting that service delivery will not be effective unless transparency, speed and accountability are maintained in performance, Energy Minister Khadka asked the employees to shoulder their responsibilities with honesty and duty.
'We call the staff a permanent government, but in practice, that stability is not seen. Looking at the current working style, it looks like students study all night but the results seem to fail. Such a situation will no longer be acceptable,' he said 'Take work seriously, reward and punishment mechanisms are essential for achieving goals.'
Regarding the beginning of the rainy season, Minister Khadka instructed the Department of Water and Meteorology to emphasize risk reduction through effective flow of information. "It is necessary to convey timely information about the possible risks that come with the rains and spread caution to the public," he said. In the
meeting, the physical and financial progress of the ministries and subordinate bodies up to the end of May 2080/81 was presented. After reviewing the presented details, Minister Khadka also instructed to prepare a solid action plan to improve the performance.
