Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that economic reforms will be given high importance in the coming days.
We have started economic reform some time ago. We are getting positive results from that . In the coming days, we will give high importance to economic reforms,'' Finance Minister Paudel said in the discussion with development partners about the upcoming budget, 'Law amendments made through ordinances, suggestions given by the High Level Economic Reforms Recommendation Commission, various policies and decisions are important aspects of policy reforms.'
Finance Minister Paudel informed the development partners that the upcoming budget will focus on encouraging the private sector, creating job opportunities, increasing production and productivity and strengthening the national economy. Mentioning that the situation is not convenient in terms of resource assurance, Finance Minister Poudel said that while preparing the budget, he will pay attention to frugality, cost reduction and allocation of limited resources in a way that yields high returns.
'Our focus will be on focusing foreign aid on Nepal's needs and priorities, and on using it correctly and effectively,' Finance Minister Paudel said, 'We have also paid attention to capital expenditure and solving problems arising from it.'
Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay said that the upcoming budget will prioritize economic discipline and increasing the confidence of the private sector.
Dhaniram Sharma, Head of International Financial Assistance Coordination Division, Ministry of Finance, informed that compared to last year, Nepal's economy is improving and now the economic indicators are positive. The representatives of
development partners gave suggestions on revenue mobilization, maximum utilization of resources, realistic budget creation and implementation, etc. and said that they will provide more support to Nepal in the future. In the
discussion, India, China, America, Britain, Japan, Korea, Australia, Norway, Germany, Finland, European Union, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Health Organization and other representatives participated.
