Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has said that the government will start rebuilding the flood damage in Melamchi and Helambu areas of Sindhupalchok. Minister Khadka has said that the government will work on the reconstruction of the flood-affected areas by conducting on-site monitoring of Melamchi and Helambu areas today.

Energy Minister Khadka announced that a special plan will be launched for irrigation management in Melamchi and Helambu areas. "I am committed to the reconstruction of Helambu, Melamchi after the flood, let's move forward together in the development of this historical place," he said.

He told that the government has given priority to irrigation management to utilize the fertile land of the hilly areas. 'Indravati river water will be brought to 22 tars in Sindhupalchok Indrawati Rural Municipality-Bhimtar and the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for irrigation will be started,' he said.

He said that irrigation management is very important to promote agricultural production in hilly areas. "Our Ministry of Irrigation in this area is active and I am personally ready to assist in this," he said.

The flood of June 1, 1978 caused a huge loss of wealth in Melamchi and Helambu areas. As the reconstruction has not been completed so far, on the initiative of MP Mohan Basnet, a team including Energy Minister Khadka, State Minister Kham Bahadur Garbuja, Irrigation Secretary Sarita Duwadi, Director General of Water Resources and Irrigation Department Sanjeev Bara conducted an on-site inspection.

During the inspection, the locals of the same area have submitted a memorandum to Minister Khadka asking him to rebuild the damage caused by the flood. They said that the local level did not have enough resources to rebuild the damage caused by the flood, and the people were killed, and they asked for the reconstruction to be done soon.

At the same time, Minister Khadka said that initiatives will be taken to rebuild structures damaged by floods and landslides. "The government will give priority to the reconstruction of the damaged structure, for this we will coordinate with the relevant agencies and proceed with the work quickly," he said.
