The Chinese technical team has started the survey of the second section of the ring road. The survey work has been started so that it can be completed within two months. Eighteen technicians from the Chinese government company CCCC First Highway Consultants and Xi'an Fangzhou Engineering Consulting Limited have been deployed for that.
Krishnanath Ojha, head of the Kathmandu Ring Road Road Expansion Plan, said that the number of technicians is decreasing during the study. "The number of people involved in the study keeps changing," he said. He said that the construction process will proceed only after that. "The team will also study through the drone survey," said Ojha, "because permission has been sought for that, it is in the process." Chief Ojha said that the technician will conduct a survey of 8.2 km from Kalanki to Vasundhara culvert, which will be funded by the Chinese government.
"If there are any obstacles during the survey, the project will facilitate them, we will provide the necessary data we have," Ojha said, "In terms of conducting the survey, all the preparations have been completed." He said that after demolition, we have repaired the places where the dust is flying, we have filled the potholes. The Chinese technical team came to Nepal on May 6 for the survey.
At present there is a four-lane road from Kalanki to Sitapaila and a two-lane road from Sitapaila to the circular path section. Now, after the expansion, it will become an eight-lane road apart from the service lane. On August 6, a letter was signed between the representatives of Nepal and China regarding cooperation. But since then the lack of progress has added to the frustration of the general public. The work of Koteshwar-Kalanki first section started in 2069 and was completed in 2075. A GTOG agreement was signed with China in 2018 to extend the Kalanki to Vasundhara culvert.
Maharajgunj-Chappal factory section progress being extended
As part of the expansion of the 3rd section of the ring road, road construction work is going on in full swing from Narayangopal Chowk to Chappal factory section. Currently, preparations are being made to blacken the one-way road. Although it was said to be built with the help of the Chinese government, after the delay in the Kalanki-Vasundhara section, the Nepal government has started the expansion of this section with its own investment.
As the budget allocation of 25 million rupees has been allocated in the current financial year, Narayanadatta Bhandari, the head of Road Division Kathmandu, said that accordingly, the work has been progressed by contracting for a distance of 700 meters. "The contract was signed in August, so far the progress has reached 25 percent," he said, "the work is being done till June." Now the work of making the culvert is also going on. "We are preparing to make one-way tarpaulin, the road is being rolled," Bhandari said.
'The goal is to complete the one-way road construction within 10 days,' Bhandari said, 'We have requested 1 billion rupees for an additional contract for 2.4 km from Vasundhara to Gopikrishna Bridge.' Ambuja/SK/Kali JV has taken the road extension contract for 700 meters. The work of this section should be completed by June.
Division Road Office Kathmandu has designed it and started the work. "The plan is that when the Chinese company starts working there, they can work there," Bhandari said. He says that the work has been started from the place that was cleared after leaving one and a half hundred meters at Narayangopal Chowk.
