The construction of Darkhola hydropower project with a capacity of 6.5 megawatts has started in Kunouta of Dhavalagiri Rural Municipality-3 Muna of Myagdi. After the access road to the dam site of the project, which is promoted by Darkhola Hydropower Limited, the construction of other structures has started.

Darkhola Hydropower Chairman Resham Bahadur Bhandari said that road construction has been started to make a place for penstock pipes from Kunuto towards the power plant.

About two kilometers of dirt road has been constructed from Kunauto to the right bank of Darkhola towards the foothills of Dar village. Three dozers have been deployed. Chairman Bhandari said that a 100 meter long penstock pipeline will be installed to take water to the power plant to be built in Solwang.

The electricity produced by dropping water into the power house from a height of 548 meters will be connected to the national transmission system by building a seven kilometer long transmission line and taking it to the Dadakhet substation. After completing the feasibility study, initial environmental impact assessment, electricity purchase and sale agreement, land purchase and financial resource management, infrastructure construction has started.

There is a schedule to produce electricity by February 2083. It is estimated that about one billion will be invested in the construction of this run-of-the-river project.
