Nepal Electricity Authority has postponed the white paper which was supposed to be released on Tuesday citing technical reasons. The Secretariat of the Authority's Executive Director Hitendradev Shakya said that the white paper will be released at 11:30 on Tuesday. But on Tuesday, due to some technical reasons, Shakya, the executive director of the authority, said that the white paper program to be released has been postponed.
Shakya's secretariat said it has been postponed until further notice. The board meeting of the authority held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has approved the white paper. A member of the board of directors of
had already approved the white paper on Monday, so the schedule for publicizing the data mentioned in it had been decided.
The then executive director Kulman Ghising was saying that 99 percent of the country has been electrified. But the white paper prepared by the authority states that electrification has reached 91.41 percent. Similarly, even though it was mentioned that the total number of customers was 5586 thousand 37 till January 081, Ghising said that it has reached 59 lakh 35 thousand including the community.
'The white paper was supposed to be published on Tuesday,' said the member, 'the number of households that had access to electricity since the electrification of the country was less than before. Therefore, the board meeting instructed to adjust it.'
The member said that the board meeting held on Monday did not give any further instructions. Rajbhai Shilpkar, spokesperson of the authority, says that the scheduled program has been postponed due to the additional instructions of the board meeting on Tuesday. "There have been additional instructions from the board meeting, according to which the preparation should be done on the white paper," he said.
