A high-level discussion on health insurance was held today in Chengdu, Sichuan Province between the Nepal Insurance Authority and the Sichuan Health Security Administration under the Sichuan Province of China.
The team from Nepal led by Sharad Ojha, Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority, and the team from China led by Zhang Hefeng, Deputy Director General of Sichuan Health Security Administration, discussed health insurance, health insurance system, policies and structures related to health insurance and health protection. In the
program, measures to ensure the sustainability of health insurance, improvement in the payment system, protection provided by insurance, health insurance schemes run by the private sector, methods of providing easy and accessible services to citizens, cooperation between the public and private sectors in health protection, transparency in receiving services, increasing trust in insurance and increasing the effectiveness of health insurance through the use of digital technology are mentioned in the statement. In the
program, Zhang Hefeng, Deputy Director General of China's Sichuan Health Security Administration, informed that the health security in Sichuan province is classified into three parts: basic health care facilities in the first stage, treatment facilities for fatal diseases in the second stage, and medical assistance in the third stage.
Deputy Director General Zhang mentioned that the facilities given to the citizens will be increased according to the financial condition of the organization, and the citizens purchase health insurance for the treatment of non-risky diseases under the government health protection plan. He said that regularly used medicines and basic medical services will be provided under the government health protection and basic services. He informed that it has been mentioned that strict action has been taken as well as high fines for health institutions making false claims while strengthening the internal control system to prevent false and fake claims.
Deputy Director General Zhang informed that the services are added based on the financial condition of the organization under the government health protection and the financial assistance provided by the government and that there are many benefits in the insurance sold by private sector insurance companies. In the
program, Sharad Ojha, Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority, raised questions about the difference between the government health insurance plan and the private sector health insurance and the sustainability of the government health insurance system.
Chairman Ojha said that the authority will adopt the experience of Sichuan province while formulating health insurance policies in Nepal. Nepal Insurance Authority Chairman Sharad Ojha and Executive Director Sushildev Subedi and Consul General of Nepal in Chengdu Suresh Raut participated in the
