Bhuwansingh Gurung, the candidate of the Democratic Foreign Employment Professionals Forum close to the Nepali Congress, has won the post of President of the Nepal Foreign Employment Professionals Association. In the elections held in the 30th and 31st general meetings of the association, he won by defeating his rival Naresh Gelal by 61 votes.
Victory Gurung Gelal got 367 votes while getting 428 votes. He is the former Second Vice President of the elected Gurung Association and Director of Gurung Management Pvt. Ltd.
Two candidates from the Gelal group have won in the union elections. Sujit Kumar Shrestha, the candidate for the first vice president, won by getting 375 votes. He defeated Narendra Prasad Dhakal by 73 votes. Devkumar Khokhali (Gurung Panel) won as the second vice president.
Mahesh Kumar Basnet won as general secretary by getting 423 votes. Kuncha Dorje Dingdong got 374 votes for the post of secretary. Similarly, Dhanu Sinjali won with 428 votes in treasurer. Among the candidates for the
working committee members, the influence of the Gurung panel remained. Candidates including Rekha Sharma, Krishna Dhakal and Bharat Sapkota won.
Although a total of 893 representatives were registered in the election, 813 people participated in the voting. As a result, more than 91 percent of the voting in the union elections fell.
In this election, the Gurung panel was supported by the CPN-Maoist Central Republican Foreign Employment Professionals Forum, while the Gelal panel was supported by the Progressive Foreign Employment Professionals Forum Nepal and some other business groups.
