A memorandum of understanding has been signed for 10 high-impact community development projects to be implemented in the fields of education, health and culture in Nepal under the grant support of the Government of India.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of the Government of Nepal and the project implementation agencies of the Government of Nepal have today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to conduct 10 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) in Nepal with the help of India at a total project cost of Rs 625 million.

In Nepal, this project will be implemented through the local bodies of the Nepalese government, such as the metropolitan city, sub-city city, municipality and rural municipality, according to the embassy. The implementation of these High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) will help provide better educational, healthcare and cultural facilities to the people of Nepal.

Since 2003, India has worked in more than 573 HICDPs in Nepal, including 10 projects signed in the memorandum of understanding today, and has completed 495 projects in the fields of education, health, roads and bridges, river training, drinking water, electrification, irrigation, culture, social welfare and other public utilities at the grassroots level in all seven provinces of Nepal. The rest of the project is being implemented in various phases.
