The World Bank is going to provide 20.4 billion to implement the third bridge improvement and repair program. The bank's executive board of directors has approved a financial package of USD 150 million today.

According to the head office of the World Bank in Washington DC, this aid amount has been approved for the maintenance and strengthening of bridges built on the strategic road network of Nepal.

Nepal's bridge system plays an important role in connecting remote and urban communities to livelihoods, healthcare, education and other basic services along with economic opportunities, and natural and climatic risks such as floods, landslides and earthquakes seriously affect infrastructure such as bridges.
