Construction of three high-capacity substations has reached the final stage to make electricity supply sufficient, reliable and quality to industrial corridors and consumers in Bara and Parsa. The construction of three substations of 132 KV capacity under construction at Amlekhganj in Bara and Birganj in Prasauni and Parsa has reached the final stage.

The Nepal Electricity Authority has instructed the project management and construction professionals to complete the substation and transmission line construction as soon as possible. The authority says that the transmission line and substation under construction are important for electricity demand, supply management and electricity trade with India in Birganj area.

Amlekhgunj 132/66 KV substation has been prepared to solve the problem of electricity supply and meet the increasing demand of Pathlaiya-Simra-Virganj industrial corridor. Most of the main equipment in the substation has been connected. Amlekhganj substation is being put into operation by the second week of May (May 2025). The work of looping in and looping out of one circuit of the East-West 132 kV double circuit transmission line inside Amlekhganj substation has been completed.

Both circuits of the 66 KV line supplying electricity to the Simra-Virganj industrial corridor from Hetaunda have been looped in and looped out at the substation. As the 66 KV line from Hetaunda was long and had low capacity, there was a voltage problem in the Simra-Birganj industrial corridor. The length of the 66 KV line will also be reduced and the electricity supply will be improved in the Simra-Virganj industrial corridor where the Amlekhganj substation is operational.
