The Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Hitendradev Shakya, has said that the problem of load shedding in the industry will be resolved within two weeks. Taking charge of the authority, Shakya claimed that even if electricity is brought from India, load shedding will not be allowed in the industry.
Shakya took oath before Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka on Tuesday.
Cabinet meeting on Monday removed Executive Director Kulman Ghising and appointed Shakya. Even though electricity was brought from India, load shedding was not done in the industry even in 2077, even though the authority's profit was reduced at that time. Because electricity had to be brought from India at a high price that year," said Shakya, "now loadshedding is being done for 12 to 14 hours only in industry. Loadshedding will not be allowed even if electricity is brought from India. I will show you the results within one to two weeks.
Shakya says that the current Genji generation should learn to call quality electricity more than loadshedding. The next challenge is quality electricity distribution. In any industry, there should be no tripping more than one day in a year and we should make a standard and move forward," he said. "Load shedding is not our issue, quality electricity is our issue."
Even in the electricity arrears dispute on dedicated and trunk lines, Shakya said that a technical solution will be taken as a recommendation has been received from the quasi-judicial body. "We have received a recommendation from the quasi-judicial body, we will find a technical solution to that procedural issue," Shakya said, "We need impartiality to solve it technically." I think I can give that. He says that the country is currently in an energy crisis and this time is both a challenge and an opportunity for him. "There is a financial challenge to the authority and the government to meet the government's goal of producing 28,000 megawatts in 10 years, I accept it as a challenge and move forward," Shakya said.
The Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government appointed Ghising as the executive director of the authority for the second time on July 26, 2078 and transferred Shakya to the Water and Energy Commission with special category facilities. Soon after, Shakya reached the Supreme Court. But the decision has not been made yet.
"Last time when I was appointed as the executive director of the authority, I was given a 4-year term, but my responsibility ended before 6 months," Shakya said, "Even though I went to the court for justice, that appointment period ended on January 25." He said that he will show his experience and efficiency through work.
