Kulman Ghising, the outgoing executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority, was trying to collect the arrears of dedicated and trunk lines even on Monday. On Monday, Ghising asked the Electricity Regulatory Commission to agree that the arrears should be recovered even if it is by cutting power to the industry.
The committee formed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation to clear the arrears of customers who consume electricity from dedicated and trunk lines has been stopped by the Supreme Court from working and has written to the commission saying that the arrears will not be recovered even if other measures are taken other than cutting off the electricity.
'I request that the industrialists who do not pay the tariff cut the electricity line and pave the way to collect the arrears without interruption,' said Ghising in his letter to Ayo.
