Central Bhotekoshi and Khimti transmission line to be brought within a month

The Nepal Electricity Authority, under the leadership of its subsidiary Chilime Jalvidyut Limited, has asked to complete the construction of the Madhyabhotekoshi hydropower project and the Khimti-Baharbise transmission line in Sindhupalchok within a month.

During the testing of the structure and equipment to start electricity generation from the completed Madhyabhotekoshi, the tunnel leaked.

Madhyabhotekoshi with 102 MW connected capacity produces up to 40 MW of electricity in the winter months. As 40 megawatts are of great importance for the management of electricity supply in accordance with the demand of winter season, the management of the Authority has taken the initiative to bring Madhyakotekoshi into operation as soon as possible.

Authority's Executive Director Kulman Ghising and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chilime Hydropower Company and Chairman of Madhyabhotekoshi Hydropower Company Board of Directors Subhash Kumar Mishra visited the transmission line and substation on Saturday and took information about the construction progress.

The construction of 400 kV transmission line from New Khimti substation in Ramechhap to Bahrbise in Sindhupalchok under the Tamakoshi-Kathmandu KV transmission line project, where the electricity produced by the Madhyabhotkoshi hydropower project is in the final stage. Under the transmission line project, the entire tower in the Khimti-Bahrbise section has been erected. Only about one kilometer of wire remains to be pulled.

400 KV New Khimti-Baharbise transmission line will be brought into operation (charge) immediately at 200 KV and the electricity of Madhya Bhotekoshi will be integrated into the national transmission grid. The process of placing the necessary structures at the new Khimti and Bahrbise substations to charge the line at 200 KV has progressed.

The team led by Executive Director Ghising has instructed the project and construction professionals to proceed with the rest of the work immediately after discussing the remaining work to be done at the new Khimti and Bahrbise substations to charge the Khimti-Bahrbise line at 200 KV. The team also inspected the ongoing wire pulling work in Sindhupalcho's Tripurasundari rural municipality-2 Chokti under the transmission line.

Executive Director Ghising said that 40 megawatts will also play a big role in winter power load management and since the construction of both projects is sensitive and urgent, he himself came to the field to monitor. His instructions are to take the construction seriously and carry out the rest of the work with necessary coordination.

About four kilometers of 220 KV transmission line has been constructed to connect Bahrbise substation of the same Municipality-3 from the switchyard of power house of Madhyabhotekoshi project to Bahrbise municipality-5 position.

The Tamakoshi-Kathmandu transmission line has been constructed for the electricity flow of the hydroelectric projects constructed and planned on the Tamakoshi and Sunkoshi rivers and their tributaries. Of the 122 towers on the Bahrbise-Lapsiphedi line section, only two towers are left to be constructed. Under the project, the construction of 220 kV substation has been completed in twelve years.
