Kanti Highway is one of the old roads connecting Lalitpur to Hetaunda Bazar. This road suffered major damage due to the flood last October. Half of the Bagua bridge connecting Lalitpur-Hetaunda was swept away. The road was blocked due to landslides in more than two dozen places towards Lalitpur alone.

The road has been narrowed due to landslides. The landslide on the road has not been cleared yet. As many landslides have been removed and the means of transport have been operated. Rain is approaching again. Ratnalakshmi Bajracharya, head of the Kanti Highway Road Planning Office, said that if there is a risk of flooding before the coming monsoon, preparations are being made.

"We will make two packages for Lalitpur and one package for Makwanpur," she said, "We have tried to make a contract by February, the cost estimate is being finalized by the road department." "We will make a separate contract for the prevention of 3 big landslides with buffalo towards Lalitpur, then the road contract of this district will be awarded," she said, "If there is a risk of landslides this year, there will be problems in the coming monsoon." Out of the 28 km towards Lalitpur, there is a section of about 350 meters of landslides. 

Bajracharya said that a contract for 6 km has already been signed under the multi-year road section. "We will contract for 22 km section apart from 6 km," she said. "We are planning to complete the landslide management work in Buffalo before the monsoon, so we are preparing to award the contract through a quick process," she said.

"We are working on a bailibridge contract in Baguwa, we can complete it by the middle of Baisakh," Bajracharya said. The distance from Satdobato in Lalitpur to Buddhachowk in Hetaunda is 91 km. After

, the contract has been called after 6 months for the permanent reconstruction of the BP highway, which was the most damaged by the floods of last October. In the first phase, the contract has been awarded for the construction of Sindhuli section. The contract was called for on February 28 with a time limit of 30 days, where a two-lane road will be constructed on a five-km section. 

The contract is being invited on Tuesday for the 8.5 km section from Dalabesi to Char Saybesi in Kavre section. Suman Yogesh, Head of Road Division Bhaktapur said that its construction period will be two years. 

"We will issue the contract for the 11 km section from Char Saybesi to Bhakundebesi within a few days," Yogesh said, "We are preparing for the contract for the 3.5 km section from Dalabesi to Barkhekhola. But the issue of giving the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to build this section is being discussed. But no decision has been taken from JICA, if JICA does not work on this section, we will call for a contract and proceed with the work ourselves.'' Currently, temporary maintenance work is being done on the BP highway in view of the coming monsoon.

The road department had asked the finance ministry for resource consent with an estimate of 18 billion 882 million rupees for the reconstruction of roads and bridges. With the decision of Artha, the way has been opened for the permanent construction of roads and bridges. 15 billion 83 million 10 million for highways, 1 billion 90 million 10 million for bridges and 1 billion 15 million for alternative roads were demanded from the government. Funds are requested for the permanent construction and maintenance of 10 highways, 13 bridges and 3 roads.
