It has been 26 months since the expansion of Dhulikhel road from Bhaktapur to Suryavinayak in Kavre to four lanes. However, construction progress is only 43 percent so far. 57 percent of the work should be completed within the next 10 months. Looking at the current construction speed, it does not seem likely that the work will be completed within that time.
Therefore, the construction progress is not satisfactory. A total of 15.8 km road is divided into two sections and its work is being done. One of which is the section, Suryavinayaka-Sanga. Which is the distance of the section, 7.5 km.
The contract for the said section was taken by Ashish/Kumar Shrestha/Bandhan Bhagwati JV on 24th December 2079. The contract amount is 3 billion 88 million 93 million. The progress of this section has been set at 37 percent and the deadline is 27 December 2082. The Sanga to Dhulikhel section is also currently being worked on. The distance of this section is 8.3 km.
Bishnuprasad Khanal, engineer of Suryavinayak-Dhulikhel road project, said that the construction of 'structure' is going on in Sanga to Dhulikhel section. He says that black paper work is being done on one kilometer of the said section. The project is currently being worked on in the Sanga section as well. "According to the initial agreement, the deadline is 36 months," he said.
The contract for that section was taken by Lama Construction on 27th November 2079 for 4.5 billion 64 lakh rupees. Physical progress is 42 percent. Project engineer Khanal said that the deadline of this section is till 27th of December 2082.
25 years after the construction of the road, it has been expanded to four lanes. Sajna Adhikari, senior divisional engineer of the project, said that the overall physical progress of both sections is 43 percent. According to him, the design for the construction of concrete bridge on Jagati and Mahadev rivers has been approved and the construction has started. Similarly, the project said that the design approval process for the construction of the bridge on the Punyamati River is underway.
