Saud himself looks after the technical aspects of strawberry farming. 26-year-old, who started strawberry farming three years ago, said that last year alone, there was a turnover of strawberries worth 1.8 million.
'Last year, 11 lakhs was saved', he said, 'now more than 70 kilos are being sold daily.' According to him, more than four lakh strawberries have been sold this year.
Saud has rented 15 acres of land and cultivated strawberries. He said that strawberries are being sold at Rs 700 per kg in retail and Rs 500 in wholesale.
He says that strawberries are sent to places like Butwal, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi along with Dang. He said, "After studying the subject related to agricultural technology, I started strawberry farming with the idea of doing something about it. Now I am getting a good income from this." Not only in Ghorahi, Saud has been cultivating strawberries commercially in 12 plots in Kapilvastu and 10 plots in Kailali.
Saud believes that strawberry fruit is considered a good fruit in addition to its taste and nutritional properties and is not a problem for sale. He said, ``in the beginning, Rs. The plants that were planted at the end of August have now produced, and there is no problem for the market.'
According to him, 40 percent of the total production is being sold only in Dong. "Strawberry is one of the coldest places", he said, "tomorrow will be better today".
