Biscuits have been started from millet flour in Dhavalagiri Rural Municipality-7 Takam. Anil Bhandari and Nima Chantyal Bhandari, owners of Dhaulagiri Bakery, Cafe and Agro Mart, have started manufacturing biscuits from millet flour. Bhandari said that he started producing biscuits from millet flour by baking it in an 'oven machine'.

"I grind millet, grind it, mix honey, sugarcane powder, sugar and cabbage powder and make it into a round shape, cook it in an oven machine and dry it in a dryer," he said.

Biscuits made of honey and sugarcane are priced at 250 per dozen (12 pieces) and sugared biscuits are priced at 130 per dozen. Cabbage does not allow biscuits and bread to fall apart. Honey and sugarcane powder mixed with millet flour to make balls are considered to be powerful.

Bhandari said that the millet biscuits prepared for testing during the making of bread and cakes were liked by the consumers and prepared for regular production after laboratory testing by the Food Technology and Quality Control Office. He has been producing and selling biscuits based on demand.

37-year-old Bhandari has returned from working in Malaysia for six years, Qatar for two years, Saudi Arabia for two months and UAE for 45 days.

Ashok Khatri, the ward chairman of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7, said that since Bhandari started making biscuits, millet could be made into a brand, so it would be facilitated to certify the quality. It will also help to reduce imports.'
