Kafle appointed as Executive Director of Insurance Board

The government Dr. Raghuraj Kafle has been appointed as Executive Director of Health Insurance Board. Wagle, a development economist from Tanahun, was appointed as the executive director among the three people selected based on the recommendations of the recommendation committee.

According to the information released by the private secretariat of Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel on Tuesday, among the 10 candidates whose applications were approved by the recommendation committee; After the presentation and interview on February 18 and 19, the names of Dr. Krishna Prasad Adhikari and Kamal Panthi were recommended to the Cabinet along with Dr. Kafle.

Kafle was a member of the Insurance Suggestion Working Group formed by Minister Paudel. The working group handed over the report with suggestions for health insurance reform to Minister Poudel. 

Before this, Kafle has the experience of being the vice-chairman of the Policy and Planning Commission of Gandaki Province and the executive of the Foreign Employment Board. During his tenure on the board, Kafle initiated various new welfare programs for the benefit of workers and dependent families. The decision to increase the relief amount by 400 percent and insurance by 100 percent was made under his leadership. He started the workers' insurance program for critical illness.

Kafle worked as a senior official in the United Nations Development Program for more than a decade. Likewise, he has been involved in various development strategies. He has a degree in economics and has also taught for a long time.
