Tara Air has stopped regular flights from Surkhet to Mugu, Humla and Jumla. According to Tara Air, the flight had to be canceled after every flight was damaged.
The air service, which was inaugurated on December 4, 2024 by Minister of Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment of Karnali Province, Suresh Adhikari, has now been closed.

Travels said that although the work has been started as per the agreement to operate regular flights twice a week in three districts, the air service has been stopped due to lack of support.
Yeti Airlines said that a test flight was also completed in Dhangadhi on Saturday. Sudarshan Bertaula, spokesperson of the airline, informed that the 9 N-AMN ATR 72 aircraft of Yeti had successfully conducted a test flight.
The representatives of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority and Yeti Airlines, including technicians and employees, were present for the flight observation. Surkhet and Dhangadhi Airports were conducted for regular flights and to be used as alternative airports in the future, spokesperson Bertaula said. Based on the report of the test flight, preparations will be made for regular flights, he said.
Chief Business Officer of Yeti Airlines, Yuvraj Kumar Bisht, informed that the aim is to expand the market by increasing the range of flights considering the demand of passengers. He believed that with regular flights, the confidence of passengers towards airlines will increase.
On this February 20th, the airline has successfully completed a test flight at Rajviraj Airport. Buddha and Shree Airlines have been flying in Surkhet and now it is expected that the ticket will be cheaper after this addition.

Government-owned Nepal Airlines does not fly from Surkhet airport and the airline does not even have an office in Karnali. Passengers say that they are forced to use Nepalgunj airport in Lumbini province to travel from Surkhet to the Himalayan district here.
