In order to provide relief to the consumers from the high prices in the district headquarters, Khalanga, the Jumla branch of Food, Management and Company Limited has started giving subsidy on sugar.

The company has started selling sugar at Rs 10 per kg less than the market price. Currently, the market price of sugar is Rs 110 per kg. Manoj Joshi, the head of the company, said that consumers started flocking to the company to buy sugar after getting Rs. He said that the company which has been selling rice under subsidy has now started selling sugar as per the demand of the consumers. The company is selling sugar every day except public holidays. At one time, the company provides five kilos of sugar for one consumer.

Although the citizens of the capital region get subsidy on sugar, it is expensive for the citizens of the remote areas. For the same reason, the company has delivered sugar to the local municipality and demanded to provide this facility to the remote areas as well.

Earlier, the Food Management Office opened depots in villages and sold subsidized rice. In the same way, the locals demand to deliver sugar to the village.
