Nepal Electricity Authority has earned a profit of 11.36 billion rupees in 6 months of the current fiscal year 2081/82. The Authority has earned a total of Rs 70.44 billion from the sale of electricity, interest and other income from July to December.

According to the authority, 59.8 billion rupees have been spent on electricity purchase, administrative and various projects. Based on this, the raw profit (before deduction) is estimated to be 11.35 billion 92 million. Which is less compared to 6 months of last financial year. The authority estimated that the unprocessed profit (before deduction) from July to December last financial year was 15.36 billion 6 million. A total of 67 billion 28 billion 77 million rupees was earned from the sale of electricity, interest and others. The authority had spent 51 billion 92 crore 71 million on electricity purchase, administrative and various projects.

The data shows that the authority, which had an annual loss of 8 billion 89 million in the financial year 2072/73, has been continuously profitable in the following years. In the financial year 2080/81, the Authority earned a profit of Rs. 14.46 billion. From the profit, the Authority is investing in projects for electricity generation, transmission and distribution, expansion and strengthening of infrastructure and electrification.
