8 billion 68 crore worth of paddy-rice import in seven months through Birganj route

In seven months of the current financial year, 226 million 226 million 829 kilograms worth of rice has been imported through Birgunj channel.

Compared to seven months of last year, the import of rice has increased by 72 percent during the same period of the current year. During the same period last year, 13 million 18 lakh 59 thousand 416 kilograms of rice worth Rs 4.91 billion was imported through this channel. Birganj Customs Office Information Officer Amit Tiwari said that there has been an increase in the import of paddy and rice in the seven months of the current year. "Compared to seven months of the previous year, the import of paddy-rice has increased during the same period of the current year," he said.

In Nepal, an agricultural country, not only rice but also rice is being imported from foreign countries . In the seven months of the current year, one crore 33 lakh 74 thousand eight hundred 26 kilograms of rice worth one billion 35 crores has been imported through this channel.

While in the same period of last year, 81 lakh 17 thousand 130 kg of rice was imported worth 1 billion 6 crore. In the seven months of the current year, two billion 96 million five crore 77 lakh 14 thousand five hundred 83 kilograms of corn have been imported. While in the same period of last year  66 million 49 thousand 972 kilograms of corn worth two billion 97 million were imported. Compared to last year, there has been a general decline in the import of corn during the same period of the current year.
