During the seven months of the current financial year, goods and merchandise worth 40 billion 345 million 79 thousand have been exported through Birgunj customs checkpoint.
Compared to the seven months of the last financial year, the export through the border has almost doubled during the same period of the current financial year. During the seven months of the last fiscal year, goods worth 17.7 billion 795 million 60 thousand were exported to foreign countries through this channel.
Out of the small/big 28 customs checkpoints across the country, the share of exports through Birgunj customs checkpoint is 31.72 percent. Amit Tiwari, Information Officer of Birganj Customs Office, said that in the current financial year, the export of processed sunflower and soybean oil has increased along with the overall increase in exports.
'Compared to the last financial year, exports are increasing in an encouraging manner in the current financial year,' he said. Refined soybean oil worth 19.36 billion has been exported through the Birganj customs checkpoint during the seven months of the current financial year.
In the same period, processed sunflower oil worth four billion 63 million was exported. Fruit juice worth 3 billion 96 million has been exported to foreign countries. Similarly, the Birgunj Customs Office said that iron and iron materials worth 3 billion 12 million were exported.
Synthetic yarn worth 1 billion 60 million and various types of cloth worth 1 billion 47 million have been exported to foreign countries. During the same period, the raw material of animal feed worth 1 billion 22 million was exported.
