Sharad Ojha has been appointed as the Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority. Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Minister Balram Adhikari told Kantipur that Ojha was appointed by the cabinet meeting held on Monday.
The recommendation committee formed under the coordination of National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Shivraj Adhikari to appoint the chairman of the authority recommended the names of Ramsharan Pudasaini and Damodar Basaula to the cabinet along with Ojha.
12 people applied for the post of chairman of the authority. Among them, five people were shortlisted in the first phase. The names of three of them reached the cabinet.
The 32-year-old Ojha, who was appointed as the president, has a master's degree in management and a bachelor's degree in law. The tenure of the chairman of the authority will be 4 years.
After the authority registered a case against the previous president Surya Silwal, he was automatically suspended from the post. Along with that, the recommendation committee formed under the coordination of the vice-chairman officer of the National Planning Commission for the appointment of the vacant chairman of the authority called for applications with a deadline of 15 days on January 26.
