Nepal Telecom, a government-owned telecommunication service provider, has requested to use mobile data instead of public Wi-Fi while conducting digital transactions. Pointing out the security risk, Telecom has asked the general public to use mobile data. Users have responded that data is expensive.

It is mentioned in the notification issued by Telecom on Monday that the use of public Wi-Fi may be unsafe when making digital payments through mobile apps or wallets. It is suggested to use telecom's mobile data as it can cause various cyber security risks.

Telecom has posted about this on social media . In that post, some users have asked to make data cheaper. 'Releasing information like this, making data expensive,' a user on Facebook responded to Telecom's post, 'What kind of policy is this!'

Nepal Telecom customers can easily purchase the necessary data pack by dialing Asterisk 1415 hash (*1415#) from mobile or using Nepal Telecom's app. Telecom says that customers can purchase data packages at concessional rates .

Telecom pointed out the security risk and requested its customers to be aware of it and prioritize the use of mobile networks.
