Construction of three hydropower projects started in one ward

Construction of three hydropower projects has started in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4 Mudi of Myagdi. The construction of three hydropower projects with a capacity of 155 megawatts has been started from the Myagdi river flowing from the foothills of Dhailagiri mountain.

Under Urja Developers Pvt Ltd, Myagdi Hydropower Limited is the promoter of the 53.5 megawatt Upper Myagdi-1 hydropower project, the infrastructure has been started, while the 65MW Myagdi Khola hydropower project, which is the promoter of Hydro Village, has accelerated the construction of the access road.

Similarly, the Upper Myagdi hydropower project with a capacity of 37 megawatts, which is promoted by Hydro Empire Pvt. Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality Chairman Prem Prasad Pun said that out of eight different hydropower projects registered in Myagdi River and its tributaries Gurjakhola and Mudi River, the construction work of three projects has progressed.

"With the progress of the construction work of the hydropower project, it has also helped in the expansion of road access to the remote settlements, we have also given priority to the local manpower in the project and asked them to give them opportunities to work and to make the responsibility work to be done in the social sector effective", said village chairman Pun.

The Upper Myagdi-1 hydropower project, which has a power house in Khamla Dam and Malika Rural Municipality-7 Bharwang in Mudi, has completed the construction of the access road and started the construction of infrastructure towards the tunnel and dam. Jyotikumar KC, the head of the project, said that the construction of 530 meters of tunnels out of a total of 5 kilometers and 700 meters of tunnels has been completed.

According to him, about 17 percent of the construction work towards the dam, tunnel and power house of this project, which is to be completed within two years, has been completed so far. The 65 MW Magdikhola hydropower project, which has a dam in Dobhan and a power house in Jeltung, has constructed an access road to the power house.

Preparations have been made for the construction of infrastructure and tunnels for the power house in Jeltung, which is six kilometers from Nowra. KC, the head of the project, said that the construction of the tunnel and the expansion of the 11 km road from the power house to the dam are planned to be carried out simultaneously.

The managing director of the project Jit Bahadur Gharti informed that the 37 megawatt capacity Upper Myagdi hydropower project, which is about to be constructed at the moment, has completed the construction of the access road and prepared for the construction of the tunnel. According to the

project, infrastructure construction such as access road, camp site etc. has been completed and preparations have been made to dig a tunnel from the dam at the bottom of Bagar village and the power house at Nowra. With the introduction of the hydropower project, roads have reached the remote settlements like Khamla, Nowra, Khibang Bagar etc.
