A five-day food festival (Khana Mahotsav) has been held from Tuesday on the occasion of 'Valentine's Day' in the tourist area of Sauraha. Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (Reban) Sauraha has been conducting a food festival on the occasion of 'Valentine's Day' for 19 years. Tourism Minister of Bagmati Province Bimal Thakuri inaugurated the festival.
Dhruv Giri, president of Reban Sauraha, said that the festival will play a role in making the tourism activity slow in Sauraha for some time.
'Festivals include tribal Tharu as well as Newar and other caste dishes. You can also taste other local and foreign dishes," he said. Program coordinator Shambhu Prasad Mali informed that there are also music and cultural activities in the festival. The festival has 32 food stalls. He said that there will be performances by national and local artists throughout the festival period.
Sauraha's road and the inner road leading to the festival site are decorated with colorful dalo pylons. Events to relax tourism in the country are happening continuously. It is our hope that such festivals will help in dynamizing the stagnant tourism business, add enthusiasm to the businessmen and motivate the locals," said Giri, president of Reban Sauraha. Mali says that in addition to local food exhibition, competition, waiter waitress competition, school level dance competition, tan dori competition, football and badminton competition will also be organized during this period. Organizers expect five thousand people to participate in the
festival. Not only at the festival site, but also in the Sauraha area during this period, coordinator Mali estimates that there will be a turnover of three crore rupees. Around 300,000 tourists visit Chitwan Park every year. There is data that 90 percent of them enter the park through Sauraha.
