The Bill on Social Media has been submitted to the National Assembly. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung submitted the bill in the National Assembly meeting held on Sunday. He said that the bill has been prepared to make the use of social media dignified, orderly and safe.

National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal said that no member of parliament has opposed the bill. "According to Rule 99 of the National Assembly Rules 2075, no notice of opposition has been received from any valid member on the Social Media Bill-2081," he said. President Dahal called it  With permission to go ahead, Minister of Communications Gurung submitted the bill to the Assembly.

'It is necessary to promote social harmony, cultural tolerance and good governance by proper and systematic use of social media,' said Gurung, 'with the development of information technology in Nepal, the use of social media is increasing.
