One crore has been returned to the savers of Image Savings and Credit Cooperatives. After 547 savers of Dhorpatan and Galkot service centers of the cooperative reached an agreement with the president of the association, Dev Kumar Nepali, in the District Court Baglung, the money of savers up to one lakh has been returned.
Manju Sharma Chalise informed that 92 savers of Dhorpatan have accepted the check to receive 37 lakh, while 147 savers of Galkot Municipality have been refunded. "One crore was returned to savers in two days," she said.
It is said that out of the five hundred and forty seven savers of Galkot and Dhorpatan, up to one lakh savers will get their refund immediately. The money of the savers was returned to the area police office Harichor and Rohbar of the people's representative. According to the coordinator Chalise, an agreement has also been made to cooperate with Mina Group Company Pvt. Ltd. for the refund of the remaining savers of the cooperative.
As of 26th January 2016, five hundred and forty-seven victims of the co-operative fraud case of Devkumar Nepali, the founder chairman of the co-operative and head of Dhorpatan municipality, have reconciled so that they do not claim wrongdoing. The savers of the cooperative made a reconciliation saying that they got the amount they were supposed to get from the Nepali's household property.
The defrauded amount of the savers amounting to Rs 23 crore 75 lakh 42 thousand 340 was found together in the household and after the reconciliation, the amount claimed in the case has also decreased. It is mentioned in the order that because five hundred and forty-seven persons, including the victims Tara Bahadur Kunwar, Manju Sharma Chalise and Yam Bahadur Kunwar, have submitted an application for settlement under Section 117 of the Civil Criminal Code 2074, settlement has been made under Section 118 (3).
The chairman of the cooperative is now in prison for Nepalese criminal charges.
