A concrete bridge has been built over the Dudhkoshi river connecting the Khumbu region, where the highest peak of the world is Mount Everest. A motorable bridge has been constructed on Dudhkoshi River at Chirdi Ghat in Solukhumbu's Solududhakunda Municipality-1 Taksindu and Mapyadudhkoshi Rural Municipality-1 Juving.
The foundation stone of the bridge built with the federal government's budget was laid two and a half years ago by Namgeljangbu Sherpa, the head of Solududhkunda Municipality. The concrete bridge, which is seen as very important from a tourist point of view, was built by Mahadev Khimti Hirachan JV at a cost of Rs 7 crore 6 lakh 33 thousand.
This bridge will be very effective to go to Khumbu, the world's most attractive tourist area, and the route to Khumbu will also be short, simple and easy, said Mayor Sherpa. "Since the bridge was built in a technically and geographically sustainable and strong place, there is no chance of damage to the bridge even in a minor natural disaster," Sherpa said. Chongbala, a local Sherpa, said that after the construction of the bridge, there will be easy transportation in the Khumbu area, so the price of daily consumables will be cheaper. Earlier, after the motorable bridge built at Orlanghat of Dudhkoshi River with the joint investment of Mapyadudhkoshi and Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, a part of it was washed away and damaged due to the flood, the transport has been conducted in Khumbu area by placing a hump pipe in the Dudhkoshi River. Locals believe that with the construction of a concrete bridge at Chirdighat, the journey to Khumbu will be easier.
