The Government of India has started the contract process for the dry port to be built at Dodhara Chandni. India's Ministry of External Affairs has set a month's time and invited the contract on January 4.

The Government of India has called for a contract with a cost estimate of 2 billion 54 crores to build the physical infrastructure for the dry port. Its deadline is February 8.

The plan is to start the contract by April, said Ashish Gajurel, the executive director of the Intermodal Transport Development Committee, 'We are also working to clear the space by April.' He said that the contract process was advanced by discussing the issues that could and could not be done. "We have guaranteed to vacate the space by April," said Gajurel, "after that guarantee, the Indian side opened the tender."

Infrastructure including administrative buildings, warehouses, parking, quarantine buildings and residential buildings will be constructed for the dry port. India will also build the access road from the national highway of India to the dry port.

A dry port will be constructed on 43 hectares of land of Mayapuri Community Forest, Dodhara Chandni Municipality-1, which is located in the central area of Shuklaphanta National Park. But the work of felling the trees at the construction site has not yet started.

In the beginning, it took time to get the right of occupancy, but now there is a delay even in tree cutting. It is seen that 1702 trees have to be cut down for the construction of the dry port.
