Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ram Nath Adhikari has said that action will be taken if the subsidy is misused. While publicizing the activities he has done during the period of 6 months on Sunday, the minister said that the subsidy will not be misused.

He stated that 1 trillion 7 billion 66 billion 27 lakh 89 thousand rupees have been spent on agricultural subsidies by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in the last five years. The minister has announced the names of agricultural cooperatives, agricultural groups and agricultural firms that will receive subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development from the financial year 2076/77 to 2080/81.

According to him, during this period, two types of grants have flowed directly and indirectly from the ministry. Out of that directly (subsidies distributed to agricultural cooperatives, agricultural groups and agricultural firms through domestic and foreign investment projects operated under this ministry), agricultural cooperatives and groups took  20 billion 30 million  14 thousand rupees. Indirectly subsidized chemical fertilizers  87 billion 35 million 97 lakh 73 thousand rupees have been distributed as a subsidy, the minister informed.

Since assuming the responsibility of the ministry, the official has been expressing suspicion that the amount of agricultural subsidy has been misused and has been indicating that the name of the recipient of the subsidy will be made public. According to this, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development said that the names of those who took the subsidy were made public and asked the general public and the media to find out about the use of the subsidy.   We have formed a committee to study the state of the subsidy and have started the work," he said. "If the agricultural subsidy is misused, action will be taken and should be done. I expect your support and cooperation in that work.

Denoting that the democratic governance system is responsible and accountable to the country and the people, the Minister of Agriculture said, 'Transparency will awaken the trust and confidence of the people in this governance system and the government. And I appeal to the local government to publicize the names of associations/organizations, cooperatives and individuals who bring agricultural subsidies.
