Rupakheti couple selling fresh vegetables on Dharke-Sitapaila road

Now the Dharke-Sitapaila road is becoming popular for travelers looking for an alternative to the Nauvise-Nagadhunga road section entering the capital. Using this opportunity, Bachuram Rupakheti, a 48-year-old farmer from Dhading Dhuniveshi Municipality-5, Kumaikhola, has started selling the vegetables he has produced on the roadside.

Now he has the opportunity to sell seasonal products such as cauliflower, cabbage, cabbage, yam and other fresh vegetables grown in his own farm. According to Bachuram, by removing the middleman and reaching directly to the consumer, the profit has also increased.

Bachuram sells vegetables from 11 am to 9 pm with the help of his wife Yashoda. "It used to be difficult to deliver vegetables to the market," he said. In this way, Bachuram also told that when he sells directly himself, he sells 12,000 to 45,000 vegetables in a day.

He claims that Rupakheti's family has been active in vegetable and food production for a long time. Bachuram, who was fond of farming since the age of 12, also worked for some time after passing IA. However, he also said that since 2048, he has been a full-time farmer since the desire to do something in his own land.

'Now this is the main income of our family,' he said proudly, 'after he started selling vegetables on the street, now other friends are supporting him.' He also said that since the farmers started selling their products on the streets, they had no problem finding a market. "Consumers can also buy fresh vegetables directly from farmers," he said.
