According to the Nepal Police, there is a growing trend of encouraging customers to order various goods by publishing attractive photos and videos on social networks and cheating money without delivering the goods. The police have asked the citizens to be aware of such fraud cases in the name of online business. As a way to avoid such frauds, the police have mentioned that 'cash on delivery' option can be chosen.
According to the notice issued by the police on Thursday, various sites are opened on social networks to present attractive plans to the customers and after the customer orders the goods, they are asked to transfer the amount to the bank account or pay the amount by scanning the QR code. The police say that after receiving the money, the fraudsters tend to stop contact and not send the goods.
'When a customer orders goods, there is an increased tendency to defraud by requesting money in various QR and bank accounts and not delivering the goods after receiving the money.' Some suggestions have been given to avoid the incident. It is mentioned that the 'cash on delivery' option can be used to pay in cash only after receiving the ordered goods . Similarly, it is said to order the goods only after verifying the official seller . "Look at the feedback of other customers, compare prices with other sellers," suggests the police. The police have also suggested what to do if you fall into
fraud. In case of such frauds, the police has requested to register an application with the cyber bureau of the police with screenshots and links. It is mentioned in the notification that an application can be made to the concerned district police office for those outside the Kathmandu valley.
