Microsoft has announced its largest ever investment in building AI and cloud infrastructure in India. In an event held this week in Bangalore, Satya Nadella, the head of the company, said that they will invest 3 billion dollars to strengthen India's AI infrastructure and encourage innovation in the country.

In addition to building a new data center in India, Microsoft plans to use the investment to improve its computing capabilities and develop cutting-edge AI technology. The Hindu company has recently partnered with Indian companies including Jio. Nadella believes that India is important in the global AI competition.

Nadella has called India a 'powerhouse' of AI . He claims that by 2028, GitHub will have the largest community of Indian developers. Nadella also announced a commitment to teach AI skills to 10 million people in India by 2030. In a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he asserted that Microsoft is committed to supporting India's initiative to prioritize AI.

Modi wrote in X that he was happy to meet Nadella and was even more excited to learn about Microsoft's ambitious expansion and investment plans in India. "It was a pleasant experience to discuss various aspects of technology, innovation and AI in our meeting," Modi wrote.

Microsoft recently announced that it will invest $80 billion in building AI data centers by 2025. More than half of its investment will be made in America.
