An insurance claim worth 12 billion 86 crore 66 lakh 88 thousand three hundred and 31 rupees has been claimed due to the damage caused by floods and landslides after the 10th of last October.
According to the Nepal Insurance Authority, a total of 3,686 claims have been submitted. Out of this, 1,899 claims worth 1.78 billion 81.38 thousand 154 rupees have been paid so far.
According to the authority, there have been 1,774 claims in property insurance. Claims worth 9 billion 22 million 25 lakh 56 thousand two hundred and 28 rupees have been covered under property insurance.
Similarly, there were 324 claims on engineering and contractor risk. According to the authority, claims worth 2 billion 84 million 19 lakh 26 thousand five hundred and 92 rupees have been made. There have been 954 applications for private motor insurance. A claim amount equal to 41 crore 53 lakh 44 thousand rupees has been demanded.
There are 393 applications for motor insurance from the public. A claim amount of 289.99 million 16 thousand rupees has been demanded. There have been 23 applications for marine insurance. An amount equal to 4 crore 4 lakh 97 thousand rupees has been demanded.
When 60 applications were made for livestock insurance, an amount equal to 38.2 million 55 thousand 267 rupees was demanded. When there were 137 applications for agricultural crop insurance, a demand equal to one crore five lakh 91 thousand six hundred and ninety five rupees was claimed. When 21 applications were received from various sources, a demand equal to 75 lakh 99 thousand 767 rupees was claimed.
According to the authority, out of 267 claims received in Koshi, 158 have been paid. In Madhesh, only 37 out of 180 have been paid. In the rain and flood affected Wagmati Province, out of 3,213 claims, 1,585 claims have been paid.
In Gandaki, only 15 have been paid while 47 were demanded. In Karnali, out of eight applications, four have been paid. Similarly, the authority said that out of six applications in Far West, three have been paid.
