400 KV double circuit 315 km power transmission line will be built
The American aid project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is going to provide additional aid amounting to 6.80 billion rupees. According to the MCC board of directors, it has been decided to provide the money for the projects under the MCC worth 92 billion rupees, which have been implemented since August 2080 with the cost sharing of the US grant and Nepal government.
The MCC Board of Directors has approved an additional 50 million US dollars for the Nepal Compact. This decision of the board underscores the shared commitment between MCC and the Government of Nepal to implement Nepal's development priorities through transformative, high-quality infrastructure projects," said a press release issued by MCC.
This additional aid amount will contribute to strengthening Nepal's electricity transmission, long-term economic growth as well as ensuring the success of the Compact, according to a statement issued by Cameron Alford, Vice President of MCC Compact Operations.
Under the MCC project, a 400 KV double circuit 315 km power transmission line will be built. A transmission line will be built through Lapsiphedi in Kathmandu and Ratmatema substation in Nuwakot, Makwanpur, Dhading, Tanahun, Palpa, Chitwan, Nawalparasi to Maheshpur in India. After the construction of the transmission line, it will be possible to exchange 3,000 megawatts of electricity between Nepal and India.
