Minister of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Madhesh Province Janardan Singh Kshatri has said that the provincial government is ready to provide all possible support for the operation of Birganj Agricultural Tools Factory.
He said this after an on-site inspection of the factory run by the National Innovation Center on Wednesday. Minister Chhetri also said that he was very impressed by the research and work being done in the factory. "The process of giving 50 million rupees allocated by the state government for the factory this year has already started," he said, "The government is committed to allocating additional funds for the factory in the next year's budget as well." He also said that the government is committed to addressing the problems of
factory operations.
Madhesh state government is going to introduce an agricultural law soon, he said that after the law comes, it will be easier to work. "The draft of the Agriculture Act has now gone to the Agriculture Committee," he said, "and then it will go to the House. After the Act comes, it will be easier to work."
Minister Chhetri said that the provincial and federal governments will support and facilitate the delivery of the agricultural tools produced by the innovation center to the farmers and said that the indigenous agricultural tools will also be encouraged as domestic agricultural tools are cheaper, reliable and of better quality than foreign ones. For this, he suggested that the center should also deliver its products to farmers' fields and test them successfully.
Minister Chhetri said that agricultural equipment has been distributed to farmers through subsidies for three decades, but it has not yielded results, and now it is necessary to replace traditional farming and attract youth to the agricultural sector.
Ritesh Dev, chief engineer of the center, informed Minister Chhetri about the various devices invented by the center. He requested to reduce the customs duties on the raw materials imported to produce agricultural equipment as they are high.
