The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has announced on Wednesday that it will hold the fifth National Labor and Employment Conference to formulate a strategic action plan for the internal employment promotion decade. This conference is being organized on February 16 and 17 in Kathmandu.

According to the Ministry of Labor, the conference will analyze the challenges that have emerged in the field of domestic and foreign employment, take suggestions for future policy and legal amendments, and establish inter-level/inter-agency coordination and cooperation for creating a labor and employable environment. The government had earlier held this conference in 2054, 061, 069 and 76.

'Now there has been a contraction in the labor and employment sector of Nepal. It has been seen that the government not only has to regulate the job-creating sectors, but also play a promotional role," Labor spokesperson Danduraj Ghimire said at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Labor on Wednesday. In the

conference, transformation in production and productivity systems for promotion of internal employment and dimensions of migration process and migration governance in Nepal, informal sector Formalization, the involvement of three levels of government and the private sector in the promotion of internal employment, the expansion of social security and insurance in the formal and informal sectors, and the use of knowledge, skills and capital gained from foreign employment in the productive sector will be discussed.

"Suggestions ranging from the revision of the Foreign Employment Act, the revision of the National Vocational Skills Development Foundation and the reform of the Social Security Fund and the Foreign Employment Board to the development of decent labor will be included in the next ten-year internal employment promotion strategic plan," he said. For the

conference, a core ceremony committee has been formed under the coordination of Labor Secretary Mukunda Prasad Niraula.  According to the ministry, 500 people from all three levels of government, private sector, trade union, labor and employment-related businessmen and researchers/experts, development partners, non-governmental sector and youth will participate in the

conference.
