An additional 350 MW of electricity can be imported from India to meet the domestic demand for electricity during winter. Since India has allowed the import of electricity even through 132 kV transmission lines, it is now possible to import 1,04 MW of electricity in winter.

Nepal will be able to import 600 MW from Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transmission line, 54 MW from Tanakpur, 300 MW from Kataiya-Kushwa, Raxaul-Parwanipur and Gandak-Ramnagar transmission lines and 50 MW from Mainhia-Sampatia, totaling 1,04 MW.

132 KV Kataiya (India)-Kushwa (Nepal), Raxaul-Parwanipur, and Gandak (Nepal)-Ramnagar (India) transmission lines sought permission to import 450 MW of electricity . But India is allowed to import only 300 MW, said Rajan Dhakal, director of the electricity trade department of the authority. Despite the request for import of 150 MW electricity from 132 KV Mainhia (Nepal)-Sampatiya (New Nautanwa, India) transmission line  India has allowed only 50 MW.

Dhakal said that India has allowed to import electricity for 20 hours till March 15. He also said that India will not export electricity in the evening. 'India to import electricity from 5 pm to 9 pm  He said, "after March 15, solar hour ie from 6 am to 6 pm can be imported."
