220 KV double circuit transmission line from Sunwal to Bardghat has come into operation. Chandan Kumar Ghosh, spokesperson of Electricity Authority, said that about 22 km transmission line from New Butwal Substation located in Sunwal Municipality Suryavasti of West Nawalparasi to Bardghat Municipality-5 was tested and put into operation a week ago.
After this transmission line came into operation, the infrastructure of 220 kV transmission line from New Butwal substation to Hetaunda has been prepared. The electricity generated from various hydropower projects will be connected to the New Bharatpur substation through the Marsyangdi Corridor 220 kV transmission line.
The double circuit transmission line was built at a cost of around one billion with the investment of the Electricity Authority and the subsidized loan of the Asian Development Bank. After the construction of this transmission line, it will be easy to distribute small and large power generation.
Earlier in November, the New Butwal substation was put into operation at Sunwal Municipality-13 Suryavasti for this transmission line. The station has established electricity connection with Kushma, Bharatpur, Butwal and Bardghat substations with a capacity of up to 220 KVA. . The electricity produced by the hydropower projects to be built in Kaligandaki and its surrounding rivers is connected to the national transmission line.
The 140 km long double circuit transmission line has been extended to West Nawalparasi through Parbat, Baglung, Syangja, Palpa, Rupandehi, starting from Dana sub station in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi. According to the Electricity Authority, the transmission line has the capacity to carry about 1,200 megawatts of electricity.
