On the occasion of English New Year, the 26th edition of Pokhara Road Festival organized by Restaurant and Bar Association (Rewan) Pokhara at Lakeside has started from Saturday. With the aim of promoting Pokhara as an English New Year destination, the festival is being held in a three kilometer area of ​​the lakeside. 

Reban Pokhara has been organizing a festival every year with the slogan 'Let's eat on the streets, dance on the streets, have fun on the streets'. The festival, which runs until December 17, takes place in the area from Komagane Park to Chautara in Gaihra. Information and Communication Minister and Government Spokesperson Prithvisubba Gurung inaugurated the festival. The main attractions of the

festival are endangered cultural programs of different ethnic groups, original costumes, tableau performances, national and international food performances, and live concerts.  For

sports, there will be boat race, waiter race, tug of war, meat and sausage eating competition. Awareness-raising street plays and dialogue programs have also been organized focusing on Pokhara's tourism promotion, development, opportunities and challenges.

Pokhara Serofero's local products, handicrafts, paintings, sculptures, agriculture, plants and other produce will be exhibited with priority, said Vikas Bhattarai, the festival coordinator and first vice president of Reban Pokhara. 

Road festival has become a dynamic means of making economic activities at the local level, earning foreign currency and creating jobs, said Birendra Sherchan, the publicity coordinator of the festival and the general secretary of Reban Pokhara. "We estimate that 4 to 5 lakh domestic and foreign tourists will be present at the festival," he said, "especially Indian tourists come to Pokhara to celebrate the New Year at this time. 

Reban Pokhara President Bishwaraj Paudel recalled that many Nepali citizens also go abroad to celebrate the English New Year before the Pokhara Road Festival. "Foreign tourists used to leave Nepal as there were no attractive programs," he said, "but the continuity of the past 25 years has created an environment where not only Nepalis but also foreigners celebrate the New Year in Pokhara." He said that there has been a lot of growth. On the occasion of the festival, hotel and restaurant, paragliding and other discounts have also been arranged. 

Pokhara's tourism business is driven by trekking tourism. Due to the cold weather in the Himalayan region Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, tourists cannot go trekking. Earlier, the tourists who reached the padayatra also returned and returned to India, Thailand and their own home to celebrate the New Year.

In this way, domestic tourists from all over the country come to the Pokhara Street Festival, which started 25 years ago with the aim of making the tourists who return home to celebrate the New Year forget about Pokhara. In recent years, the Pokhara Street Festival is developing as a national festival.

Before the start of the street festival, there was no event in Pokhara targeting domestic and foreign tourists until 1997. During the English New Year, tourists in Nepal would also return to India, Goa, Thailand and their home country to celebrate the New Year and Christmas. Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai, the coordinator of the first Pokhara Road Festival, remembers that at that time there was no custom of honoring domestic tourists as tourists. 

The festival that first started as Lakeside Street Festival in 1998 has been developed as Pokhara Street Festival since 1999. Balloon Nepal Pvt Ltd and Pokhara Tourism Council organized the 1st BYD International Balloon Festival at Pame across Phewa Lake from December 9.

Pilots from 15 countries including Nepal are participating with 17 balloons in the festival which will be held until December 17. Balloons are operated to observe sunrise and sunset. The audience is delighted with the performance of famous artists from every evening till night. 

The 2nd Dragon Boat Race Festival is taking place in Phewatal on Sunday and Monday. Earlier, the first festival was held in June 2080. The boat needed for the festival was supported by China last year. The narrow body ship came to Pokhara on Thursday with the Chinese team participating in the 2nd International Dragon Boat Race. 20 teams including 11 from Nepal, 8 from China and 1 from Singapore will participate in the

festival. Dragon Boat Race is going to be held under the joint project of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Government of Gandaki Province, Nepal Tourism Board, Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Dragon Boat Association Nepal.

The festival in Pokhara was started by the Pokhara Industry and Commerce Association. In 2042, the association organized the Pokhara festival. As a continuation of the festival, the association is currently holding the National Industrial Trade Fair at the Pokhara Exhibition Center. According to Gokarn Karki, president of the association, there was a wave of organizing festivals in other cities after the 2042 fair. 

Sangh has been holding the festival continuously since 2063 through the West Industrial Trade Fair in 2059, the National Educational Fair in 2061, the Women Entrepreneurs Fair. This time, the association is holding the 33rd National Industrial Trade Fair and IT Festival from January 10 to 17. 

Lekhnath Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing the 20th Lekhnath Festival in Talchowk from December 18 to January 1. The association started the festival from 2058 with the orange exhibition and refined it according to time and has been holding Lekhnath festival annually since 2061.

Promotion of local agricultural and industrial products, market promotion and identification of handicraft items, promotion of micro, domestic and small industries, transfer of necessary knowledge, skills and technology, emphasis on entrepreneurship, creativity, exhibition of goods and services produced in national and international countries, ethnic costumes Vinod, president of the association, organized the festival with the aim of promoting art, culture, customs and new talents as well as promoting internal and external tourists.
