Bhimeshwar municipality has mobilized crop science students for soil testing after the decline in the fertility of farmland. Students studying in the Faculty of Crop Science of Sarva Secondary School are going to the fields and collecting soil from all 9 wards of Bhimeshwar and testing it.

Prajwal Karki, a crop science teacher of the school, said that they are collecting soil from all the wards and testing it at the request of the municipality. The soil of 980 commercial farmers in all the wards was collected, said Student Protection Vic, who has been studying at the Faculty of Crop Science for three years.

He says that the students will test the acidity of the soil along with the condition of nitrogen, phosphorus and calcium in the soil near the farmers. "During the study, for the first time, we have reached the farmers' fields and collected soil samples," she said, "It took four days to reach all the farmers' fields and collect the soil samples."  Vic said that 28 students studying crop science were employed in the soil testing lab at the

school to test the soil of the farmers' fields within the municipality. She said that since soil was collected from farmers from all geographical areas of the municipality, all the friends were enthusiastic to test it in the lab.

Bishnu Choulagain, head of the agriculture branch of the municipality, said that after the farmers requested the municipality for soil testing, saying that the fertility of the fields has decreased, students studying crop science were assigned. "We have assigned the students studying crop science to test the soil of at least one hundred farmers in each ward," he said, "after all the reports come, we will facilitate the farmers accordingly."
