Although the expansion of the eastern section has reached its final stage, the work on the western section has not made the expected progress
The Muglin-Pokhara section of the Prithvi Highway, which connects the tourist capital of Pokhara by road, is being expanded to four lanes. This section of about 88 km distance is divided into two parts and the road expansion is being done.
Ambukhaireni-Jamune is divided into eastern section and Jamune-Pokhara into western section. The issue of how to proceed with the road expansion of about 8 km of Ambukhaireni-Muglin section has not been finalized yet. Although the expansion of the eastern section of the highway has reached its final stage, the expected progress has not been made in the work of the western section.
The road widening plan has extended its deadline for the second time for the western section. As per the agreement, the deadline was extended for the second time as the construction party could not complete the highway expansion work. An agreement was reached between the government and the construction party on the eastern section of the highway (Ambukhaireni-Jamune) on January 17, 2077 and the western section (Jamune-Pokhara) on May 2, 2078 to construct and hand over the road within three years.
Information Officer of Muglin-Pokhara Road Plan (West Section) Engineer Saujanya Nepal said that due to non-construction in the specified time, the deadline of the western section has been extended by about one year.
"Since the construction side advanced the extension process by showing various reasons, we also considered everything and submitted for extension for the second time," he said. But the file has not arrived at the office. The construction side has also committed to work in the extended time.
The Chinese company Yanhui Kaiyuan Highway and Bridge Construction had signed an agreement to complete the work of the western section at a cost of 7.4 billion 46 million rupees. According to the agreement, as the construction party could not proceed with the work, the 101-day grace period of the Corona period was extended until November 2081, but the work was not completed even during that period, so the deadline was extended for the second time.

Prakashchandra Bhandari, head of the eastern section, said that preparations are being made to extend the deadline for the third time to complete the road construction according to the
agreement. Until now, the construction side has complained that the work could not be accelerated due to the lack of transfer of water pipes and underground wires and the physical structure of the market area has not been removed. As of
, the eastern section has already started the final phase of the draft. Bishnu Pandey, the engineer of the eastern section, said that the final stage of the black sheeting of the 20 km one-way road has been completed so far. "We are moving fast to complete the work within the additional time," he said.
China Communication Construction signed a contract for the eastern section for Rs. But after the work could not be completed within the specified time, the deadline was extended for the first time till August 29 by adding 155 days of Corona grace period.
After the construction was not completed even by that time, the deadline was extended for the second time until February 1, 2081, Pandey, the engineer of the eastern section, said. He said that the physical progress of this section is 71 percent and the financial progress is 53 percent.
He said that 68 km of one-way road is black on the eastern section of 41.45 km. "About 31 km of 4-lane and 6 km of 2-lane roads have been paved in Ambukhaireni, Dumre and Jamune sections," said Pandey. 13 small bridges have been constructed in the eastern section.
Three big bridges are under construction. The plan states that the physical progress of the bridge over the Madi River is about 50 percent and the financial progress is 40 percent.
