The 'Steering Committee' meeting of Nepal Oil Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has agreed to complete the two petroleum pipeline projects within 54 months. It has been agreed to start work on Siliguri-Charali and Amlekhganj-Lothar petroleum pipeline within the said period.

The meeting, which started in Kathmandu on Tuesday, also agreed to exchange technical data with each other and resolve any problems immediately during construction. "The calculation of the construction period has started from today," said Manoj Kumar Thakur, the spokesperson of the Corporation, "the meeting has agreed to show the way by operating the pipeline and solving the problem immediately." It has been discussed. "IOC will go to tender after the handover by the corporation," he said.

To expand the second phase of the petroleum pipeline, an agreement has been reached with India to build two pipelines and a smart greenfield terminal worth 15 billion. It has been agreed that these projects will be done by India with subsidy.

An agreement has been reached to build a 50 km long petroleum pipeline from Siliguri in India to Charali in Jhapa, Nepal and a smart greenfield terminal with a capacity of 18,900 kiloliters in Charali. 

The corporation has about 23 bighas of land in Jhapa. Once the pipeline is built, petrol and diesel will be stored there. Similarly, an agreement has been reached to build a 62 km long petroleum pipeline project from Amlekhganj in Nepal to Lothar in Chitwan. This pipeline will also be built by India with subsidies.  This is the second meeting of the

steering committee. The first meeting was held online on October 14, 2024. Vinitamani Upadhyaya, director of engineering projects and information technology department of the corporation, said that it was agreed to hold regular meetings of the steering committee. Deputy Executive Director Birendra Goit, Deputy Executive Director Deepak Baral, Director of Engineering Project and Information Technology Department Upadhyay participated in the

meeting. On behalf of IOC, Country Manager of Nepal Nirupam Raizada along with Anirudh Thate, Praveen Kumar participated.
